The Gambling Support Service (GSS) is a harm-minimisation project focused on promoting public education and awareness to reduce the impact of gambling-related harm (GRH) in vulnerable individuals. The project embeds a public health approach, supporting frontline professionals who deliver a range of public services to develop capacity and capability to identify and support people at risk of gambling related harm.
Role Purpose
  • To provide face-face and online training, workshops and events for frontline staff (within the Citizens Advice network, and wider), increasing capacity for identification of gambling related harm
  • To raise awareness of gambling related harm to service users and providers
  • To screen, identify and offer advice, information and support for anyone at risk of gambling related harm

Salary:           NJC Scale 26 (grade 6) £23,866 – £25,463* per annum
Pension:       6% pension (this can be increased to 8% subject to a 2% employee contribution)
Hours:           37 hours per week
Holidays:      37 days per annum including Bank Holidays and fixed days
Location:      Newport Citizens Advice (although the post holder may be expected to travel to outreach venues throughout south east Wales and occasionally more nationally)
Duration:      12 months fixed term
 Closing Date:          4.30pm on Friday 12th October 2018
Interview Date:        Week commencing 22nd October 2018
 *to be appointed at scale 6 the successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate a minimum of six months casework experience – a lower scale be may offered as an alternative.
 
Role Purpose
  • To interview and advise clients at Local Offices and at Outreach venues (as required)
  • Provide advice on a range of issues using the Citizens Advice Advisernet system and other resources provided
  • Undertake debt casework as appropriate
